Turtle Trails – Saturday Jan 9th

Hello Turtles,

Team Turtle will be heading out for a run on Saturday January 9th
Meet point will be the Pancake House entrance at the Forks Market.
Early Turtles will be starting at 6am, with a return trip to the Forks to pick up later starters at 8am.
Planned mileage of up to 20 miles, feel free to run for as long or as short as you would like.

We ask that everyone joining a Turtle run please remember the 1 principle that the group was founded on,
No Turtle left behind.

Recently runners have been left while stopping to fuel or while taking washroom breaks, in one instance an abandoned Turtle was forced to finish their run with another group they happened to meet.
While we understand that everyone has time constraints & different distance/speed goals it has always been our group’s policy to loop back to members at the rear & regroup at meeting points.
We believe this is one of the things that attracts so many new faces to our team, thank you for respecting that.

Don’t forget to check out the Turtle Challenge!

The best ideas seem to be born when we are doing something we love.

The first winter run of the season shocked us all a few weeks ago. A cold Saturday morning long run found a group of friends dressed in layers of merino wool, hats, mitts and that all important wind proof gear with teeth chattering, jumping and moving to stay warm before starting out on our adventure for that day.

Out on the trail we soon rediscover the joy that is winter trail running. The sound of our feet crunching through layers of snow and ice, the feeling of crisp breeze on our faces and the absolute silence that seems to enter the woods on mornings like these.

We run on together, talking and laughing, pushing through the miles in the cold and enjoying time with friends. Friends who understand the reason we do this, when so often we hear from others that we are crazy or asked the never ending question of why?

Nearing the end of this first cold run as we slow down and the icy air begins to creep in someone says something so simple and an idea is born. “We should collect jackets for people in need.”

It was this moment that launched a new Trail Run Manitoba initiative for 2015.

We are very proud to launch a program we are calling:
